Common Dental Emergencies We Treat
Severe Toothache
Sharp, persistent pain that's keeping you up or making it hard to function.
Broken or Chipped Tooth
A fall, a hard bite, or a sports hit. We'll repair it and protect what's left.
Knocked-Out Tooth
Time matters. Bring the tooth in milk and call us on the way. We'll do everything we can to save it.
Abscess or Infection
Swelling, pus, or a bad taste in your mouth needs attention before an infection spreads.
Lost Filling or Crown
Sensitivity, sharp edges, or a hole where there used to be a fix. We'll get it covered.
Soft Tissue Injury
Cuts or trauma to gums, lips, or tongue that won't stop bleeding.
Emergency Care Questions
Severe pain, swelling, bleeding that won’t stop, a knocked-out or fractured tooth, a lost crown or filling, or signs of infection like pus or fever. All emergencies. If you’re not sure, call us at (585) 335-2120. We’d rather hear from you and tell you it can wait than have you tough out something that shouldn’t be ignored.

For pain, take ibuprofen or acetaminophen as directed and use a cold compress on the outside of your cheek. For a knocked-out tooth, rinse it gently (don’t scrub the root), keep it in milk or saliva, and bring it with you. For a broken tooth, rinse with warm salt water and save any pieces. Avoid chewing on that side until we see you.
We do everything we can to make true emergencies work. Call (585) 335-2120. If the office is closed, our after-hours message will point you to the on-call contact. For severe facial swelling, trouble breathing, or trauma to the head or jaw, go to the ER first and we’ll follow up from there.
Most dental plans cover emergency exams, X-rays, and treatment at least in part. We’ll verify your benefits before treatment when we can and give you a clear estimate up front. We accept most major insurances and offer simple payment options if cost is a concern. Pain relief shouldn’t have to wait for paperwork.
