Meet Our Team

Dr. James C. Vogler, DDS, FAGD
Dr. James C. Vogler is more than a dentist — he's a passionate artist and scientist dedicated to helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles. With over 1,500 hours of continuing education, the honor of being a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, and membership in the Seattle Study Club, Dr. Vogler is committed to staying at the forefront of dental advancements. He graduated from SUNY Buffalo Dental School in 1990, completed a general residency at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, NY, and finished a two-year geriatric dental fellowship through the University of Connecticut and SUNY Buffalo. He worked in a Rochester hospital practice and served as Director of what is now Sister Renee Dental Center in Hornell before purchasing this practice in 2001 and continuing the steady tradition of Dansville dental care that began in 1990. Outside the office, Dr. Vogler enjoys pickleball, tennis, hiking, skiing, and exercise. He's been married to his wife, Jody, for nearly four decades, and together they raised three sons; one pursuing a career as a periodontist, the other two thriving in research in Boston.

Providers May Evolve. Values Do Not.
Dental practices change over time. Providers retire, new faces join the team, and technology evolves. That’s natural.
What doesn’t change at A Smile By Design are the values that have guided us since 1990: treating every patient with kindness, communicating clearly and honestly, and serving our community with integrity.
These aren’t just words on a wall. They’re the foundation of how we practice dentistry—today, tomorrow, and for decades to come.
